CYC has long-standing relationships with Des Moines Public Schools and other school districts in the metro area. We currently facilitate 15 clubs across Des Moines and Waukee.

Teen Outreach Program (TOP)

The Teen Outreach Program (TOP) is a school program based on the Wyman Center’s dynamic and engaging curriculum for middle and high school students. TOP empowers youth by providing the necessary opportunities to become leaders with a powerful vision for their community’s future. By cultivating healthy behaviors and life skills through curriculum lessons and service projects, TOP equips youth with vital tools to avoid risky behaviors and succeed in their academic, personal, and professional lives.

Chrysalis Girls Group

Sponsored by the Chrysalis Foundation, Girls Group is an after-school group for middle school girls that meets once a week. The purpose of the group is to create a fun and safe space for girls to build confidence, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and engage with their community through field trips and volunteer service projects.

Girls Group strives to ensure that every girl is empowered to find their voice by planning and leading activities and projects so they are invested in the program.

Group Mentoring

Community Youth Concepts has partnered with Iowa State University's ISU 4 U Promise program to create a school-based group mentoring program that helps students develop essential life and career skills. Through interactive activities, students explore career paths while strengthening soft skills like communication, goal-setting, confidence, and stress management—laying the foundation for a successful future in school, work, and life.

Community Youth Concepts is proud to be a Gold-certified Mentoring Program through Iowa MENTOR, demonstrating exceptional commitment to quality by aligning with 90% of applicable mentoring practices.

uVoice Expansion

In 2026, CYC is launching a pilot expansion of our uVoice program, which will be facilitated at Waukee High School. This new program will teach students skills and best practices in fundraising and give them the opportunity to use those skills to raise money for their own community.
